3 INTERESTING WAYS EXPRESSIONISM INFLUENCES MY WORK
Emerging as a reaction against the traditional rules of art, expressionism art emphasizes the artist's emotional and inner experiences over their external reality. There is typically use of bold, expressive colors and distorted forms to bring the artists vision to life. Through the use of expressive brushstrokes and unconventional compositions, this genre provides a powerful way of creating meaningful artworks, no matter the level of detail within a piece, or modern twist added to make it more unique to the artist.
This bold and expressive style has had a big influence on my work in a number of ways. While I wouldn’t fully define my work as expressionism, I do pull plenty of visual inspiration from the genre, while adding my own twist and ultimately creating from my emotions at the core. I believe that art has the power to connect people to their emotions and can help them better understand their own experiences. Here are three ways that expressionism has influenced my art:
EMPHASIS ON COLOR
One of the key elements of expressionism is the use of color to convey emotion. Expressionist artists often use vivid, saturated colors to create powerful, emotional effects. In my own work, I have found that the use of bold, expressive colors not only connects to emotions, but also add a nice pop of color to a neutral space.
DISTORTION OF FORMS
Another key element of expressionism is the use of distorted forms and brushwork. Expressionist artists often distort reality with expressive brushstrokes and unconventional compositions to create a sense of movement and emotion.
CONNECTION WITH THE AUDIENCE
Expressionism has the power to connect with the artist’s audience and help them better understand their own emotions and experiences. By using bold, expressive colors and unconventional compositions, I hope to create meaningful and impactful artwork that resonates with my audience and helps them connect with their own emotions.
Can you see the influence of this genre in my work? Expressionism has had an influence in my art and design, and I believe it is a powerful tool for creating meaningful and impactful artwork. I hope that my expressionist-inspired art can help others connect with their own emotions and experiences, and add a pop of color and brightness to their space.
