A PEEK IN MY STUDIO
An artist’s studio gives a glimpse into the inner workings of their brain. My studio (at times!) might look like a chaotic mess to other people but to me, it’s my happy place. Over the years. I’ve been able to put together a space that works for me and my creative process. My studio is inspiring AND functional, and gives me the space I need to create.
My studio space is ever-changing and evolving to suit my needs as I change as an artist and creative. Whether I am working on a series of paintings, focusing on my digital freelance work, or using the space just for fun, there are only a few things that remain steady.
Here are 3 things that I love about my at-home studio:
FLAT FILES!
Separation of office space and studio space in one room
Optimized storage- artists have a lot of stuff to create
Plus a spot for Remy and Wes to hang out :).
Some things that have changed over the years:
Painted the studio white.
Replaced the couch with a table for painting and better canvas storage.
Replaced those tables with custom built tables to fit the space better, creating much more efficient storage solutions for specific canvas heights. Plus, they are a bit taller which I appreciate.
Built Ikea shelves for storage and display.
Flat files were a more recent addition.
Swapped out my desk for something larger to fit my computer and allow space in front to draw. This was a game changer for freelance work.
